We take first the New National Road and drive along the north coast, direction east. A while after we have passed the Cretan capital, the city of Heraklion we change the direction and continue to the south.
Our first stop we make at the old monastery of Panagia Kera. After our visit there we continue to Lassithi. The green plateau is situated in the heart of Dikti Mountains and is especially well-known because of Psychro-cave, where, according to the Greek mythology, the Greek god Zeus was born. We visit the ancient cave and then, a short while later, we stop for our lunch-break.
Our next and at same time our last stop on this trip is one of the highlights of the day- the famous Minoan palace of Knossos. It follows a very interesting guided tour. The journey through the fascinating Minoan history lasts approximately 2 hours.
Afterwards we take our coach again and drive back to Rethymnon.
